General Links pages

These are websites that are maintained by libraries or university professors that have a wide variety of links.  They include 'virtual libraries,' and any one of them may have a pathway to any information you might want.


http://www.isn.ethz.ch/  - This is a Swiss network with links and a lot of information on security issues and current events.

http://www.library.ubc.ca/poli/international.html: This site has links covering just about every area of international relations; this is an incredible resource, part of the University of British Columbia.

http://first.sipri.org/  - (description from their website):Facts on International Relations and Security Trends (FIRST) is a free-of-charge service for politicians, journalists, researchers and the interested public. FIRST is a joint project of the International Relations and Security Network (ISN) and the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

The integrated database system contains clearly documented information from research institutes around the world. It covers areas in the field of international relations and security, such as hard facts on armed conflicts and peace keeping, arms production and trade, military expenditure, armed forces and conventional weapons holding, nuclear weapons, chronology, statistics and other reference data.

http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~phensel/data.html  -- This is a superb site full of data and information, put on the web by Professor Paul Hensel, of Florida State University.

http://www.ciir.org/ciir.asp  -- Catholic Institute for International Relations, a religious charity working to fight international poverty and injustice. Good information about many specific countries and cases.

http://www.psr.keele.ac.uk/orgs.htm  -- Another good list of links and resources, put together by Richard Kimber, of the UK. Clicking on the link “back to the main page” takes you to a menu with access to other links on political issues, such as parties, governments, etc. This site has links to information on particular cases as well, including the war in Bosnia.

http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/feros-pg.htm  -- Another awesome set of links from Professor Vincent Ferraro of Mt. Holyoke College. These links include think tanks, original documents, international organizations, academic papers, case studies and research information.

http://www.sosig.ac.uk/roads/subject-listing/World-cat/intrelations.html  - This is the "Social Science information gateway" – a British site that provides links to various issues, good for looking at particular parts of the world (Africa, etc.)

http://irpslibrary.ucsd.edu/  - International Relations and Pacific Studies library. Excellent on information from various parts of the world, data bases, etc.

http://fletcher.tufts.edu/inter_resources/Default.htm  - Good, succinct list of topics relating to international relations that provide links on themes (human rights, etc.) An excellent starting point for research.

http://www.etown.edu/vl/  - Over 2600 annotated links, this “virtual library” covers topics, regions, countries, and provides links to numerous news sources.

http://www.lib.umich.edu/govdocs/psintl.html  - Library of the University of Michigan, has excellent links, including a good section on human rights.
