This page exists as a stepping stone to my course pages. Still, as long as I'm already taking up space on your monitor, I'll include a bit of extra information for your browsing bemusement.
I'm an associate professor of physics at the University of Maine at Farmington. It's my thirteenth year here; I spent seven years before that teaching at colleges in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana. These days I'm figuring out how to use the Web effectively in my courses. That shouldn't take long, right?
My training is in astronomy -- pointing telescopes at spiral galaxies, to be precise. After arriving at UMF I switched over to radar observations of asteroids, in collaboration with researchers at the Arecibo Observatory and at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Another current project is working with UMF's twelve-inch telescope, so that students can point it at galaxies, asteroids, and whatever else comes out at night.
